No One Is Coming to Make You Do It

It’s late, but I’m writing anyway.

I’m writing because I committed to a schedule I set for myself. Every other Thursday. Commitment only means something when it’s inconvenient.

No one is coming to force you to do the things you say you want to do. No one is going to make time for your goals, your habits, or your ideas. Others can guide you or motivate you, but action is your responsibility.

We can’t control everything that happens in our lives, but we can learn how to ride the waves and we sure as heck have the ability to ride them with joy, and persistence. When you fall down, you get back up!

So learn from me and try this one thing in 2026: Have an absolute resolve to do ONE thing you have been wanting to do. No matter what. Pretend it’s a deadline in school. You have until midnight or the submit button disappears.

One thing for me is to be more consistent with my writing. Yes it’s a vulnerable thing to say on Medium, but hey! I’m human, not a robot.

Try writing just for the sake of writing, and not caring if it’s perfect or thinking so much about what other people will think.

Getting your one thing done is infinitely better than getting nothing done at all! A little bit of progress is much better than waiting for perfection.

A person who shows up consistently, even at 70%, will always outperform someone who keeps postponing for perfection.

So choose one thing from your cards of goals, dreams and habits and laser focus on it, as if there’s a drill sergeant demanding you to do that thing:

“Get to bed this minute soldier!” “I need to see one more rep private!”
“Sit your a$$ down and write!”

Try the app Streaks - “Streaks is the to-do list that helps you form good habits. Every day you complete a task, your streak is extended. Choose or create up to 24 tasks”

Start by adding only a couple of your biggest challenges or habits you want to keep consistent. Have fun with it, make it a challenge to see how long of a streak you can have. You can create a reward when you have a 3, 7 or 30 day streak!

Prove it to yourself, you got this!
